Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer recognized for his distinctive blend of gospel-soul jazz R&B as well as R&B. She has performed on Broadway as well as at the Democratic National Convention and in European festivals and clubs. Sunshine refers to Denise White. Although she is a resident of Atlanta her roots are in Chester Pennsylvania where she began her musical vocation by singing as well as playing the piano at churches. In Atlanta she went to Spellman College where her musical training began on Atlanta's R&B Scene. It has been remixed, and it is now an integral part of her repertoire. The voice of hers was featured on the soundtrack for The Fighting Temptations. She was appointed as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage play Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- and Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007 approached her to be the leader of the choral group for this stage show. Sunshine earned national fame during her four daily performances during 2008's Democratic National Convention. She was later invited to sing during the President's 2008 inauguration.
