April Ross

April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball players to have won medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross Tokyo for her third gold in the next couple of days. Ross will also be hoping for her very first Olympic medal. And at the age of 39, it could be her final chance to accomplish this. However, she's confident that top honors are firmly within reach. If we play our top or play well I feel like we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. That's why I'm taking the chance also. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents and sister lived in the area. The athletic pursuits she pursued began at Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several sports. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball as well as basketball as well as running and track. In her final game she stood out. Based on her bio, she was a middle blocker and outside hitting volleyball player during her senior year at high school. In recognition of her work, she was honored as in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. The year 2000 was the time she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Although Ross Klineman and Ross have been doing their thing from 2017 onward, the former was already a big-time athlete on the beach prior to their team. She has had the chance to win numerous tournaments, including one with a legendary volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who was the winner of the world championship together with Kessy in 2009, was also an important player on the world stage. In 2012, the duo were awarded silver medals at the London Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings won the gold. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor after she had retired. Together, they won bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a college player at USC Trojans prior to beginning starting her professional career. She played in high school and in some years before she hit the beach as a professional. Her time at the school was a memorable one. She was an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans reach the Final Four. Her heart was broken by a personal tragedy during her sophomore year. However, she was able to make it an All-American once more. In her last two years she led the Trojans up to the summit and won consecutive national titles. As an individual, she cemented her place as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the most outstanding female college volleyball players across the country. Ross took a course in International Relations at USC. Margie Ross was never able to watch her daughter's climb to fame as a beach volleyball player. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year studying at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. She continues to remember her deceased parent close and dear. Margie at the beach as well as in her everyday life, continues to inspire her.
